Projeto Perception
Environmental intelligence for strategic decision-making
An integrated environmental monitoring solution, based on satellite networks for advanced data collection and processing. A platform developed to strengthen environmental management and enhance the State's capacity to respond to climate and ecological challenges.
The Perception System
An integrated architecture for real-time, large-scale monitoring, the Perception System uses two satellite communication networks to collect data from ground-based sensor arrays, forming a robust relay infrastructure that enables continuous observation of strategic ecosystems. This infrastructure combines advanced satellite and IoT technologies to deliver essential real-time information, encompassing:
- Strategic planning for continuous and high-quality data collection;
- Efficient and flexible execution, with timelines aligned to institutional demands;
- High-impact monitoring to support public policies and sustainable environmental management actions.
The Environmental Digital Twin
To enable real-time monitoring and scenario forecasting, a Digital Twin framework is being developed that goes beyond physical assets, giving rise to the Environmental Digital Twin — an integration of environmental data and computational models capable of simulating ecosystem dynamics. This approach aligns with recent government initiatives, such as the European Union's Destination Earth and Ilia projects, and represents a strategic advancement for Brazil in building evidence-based environmental management. Key features of the proposal include:
- A methodology to simplify the construction of complex systems;
- Real-time environmental data to support public decision-making;
- Flexibility and reliability for critical applications.
The Perception Data Platform
Designed as a modular and scalable architecture, structured into multiple integrated layers to manage the entire data lifecycle from heterogeneous sources. It begins with a data ingestion layer, capable of processing both real-time and batch data streams from satellites and ground-based sensors. Next, the storage layer adopts a hybrid model that combines compressed, unstructured data repositories with structured relational databases, ensuring durability and flexibility in information access. The data processing layer performs critical tasks such as calibration, transformation, and AI-assisted gap filling. The visualization layer provides interactive dashboards and real-time monitoring tools to support decision-making.
